Make a good election

StageWave transmits low-latency, real-time audio over WiFi. This is not normal network usage: each connected phone receives a constant audio stream, which requires stable routers with good multi-device handling and real MU-MIMO support.

Quick recommendations:

D-Link DIR-3040 / DIR-3060. It's the router with the best balance between stability, performance and price that we've tested with StageWave. ๐Ÿ‘‰ View on Amazon

The most stable option is to use two routers and distribute devices between them or complement the setup with wired devices using an Ethernet cable. Alternatively, you can use a tri-band WiFi 6/6E/7 router, ideally if all phones are compatible with that WiFi standard.

Key points to consider:

  • Not all WiFi routers work well with real-time audio, even if they have good specs on paper.
  • WiFi 6 / 6E / 7 is only worth it if all devices are compatible. Mixing generations usually worsens stability.
  • Connecting some devices via Ethernet cable frees up WiFi and improves latency and stability.
  • In our tests, TP-Link routers have not delivered reliable performance with StageWave under real load.
