How to use Remote Mode to assist your musicians

Control another device’s mix in real time

One of the biggest challenges live is when a musician (especially when playing an instrument) can’t take their hands off to adjust their mix on their phone.

With the StageWave 2025 update we introduced Remote Mode (Mirror Control). This feature lets the monitor engineer, music director or any bandmate take control of another device’s mix in real time.

What can you do with Remote Mode?

  • On-stage adjustments: The technician can walk the stage with a tablet on the WiFi network and EQ or adjust the drummer’s volume while hearing exactly what they hear.
  • Quick assistance: If a singer needs more voice in their monitor, someone else can raise their volume remotely without stopping the rehearsal.

How to enable and use remote control

  1. Connect to the network: Make sure both the controlling device (e.g. the technician’s tablet) and the device to be controlled (e.g. the musician’s phone) are on the StageWave network.
  2. Open the devices view: In the app, go to the section where connected band members are listed.
  3. Select the musician: Tap the device of the musician who needs help.
  4. Take control: You’ll see a “mirror” view of their mixer. Any change you make to faders, pan, EQ or effects (reverb/delay) will apply instantly to the musician’s headphones.

!TIP With StageWave Server open, you can also manage critical processes like Reverb, Delay and Compression from the main computer, giving the engineer full master control.
