System Requirements
To use StageWave you need some requirements for your devices
1. Mixer or audio interface
StageWave works with any audio interface or digital mixer that meets:
- 48kHz sample rate support.
- Support for 16-bit samples.
Important: Windows users: The audio device must have ASIO drivers from the manufacturer. Never use generic drivers (such as ASIO4ALL).
2. Computer requirements
The computer will process the audio and send it to the router.
- 64-bit processor (Recommended: Intel Core i5 7th generation or better).
- 8 GB RAM.
- At least 500 MB free space.
- Gigabit Ethernet port (If you don't have one, use a Gigabit to USB 3.0, USB-C or Thunderbolt adapter).
- The operating system must recognize the mixer as an audio input device.
- Windows: Windows 10 or later. Disable "Safe mode" in the ASIO driver or use minimum latency. Ensure the firewall does not block StageWave.
- Mac: macOS 10.15 or later (Apple Silicon compatible).
3. Router requirements and placement
The router is the heart of the wireless system. It must meet:
- Standard: WiFi 5 (802.11ac) or newer (WiFi 6/6E).
- Band: 5 GHz only.
- Technology: MU-MIMO support.
- Physical connection: At least 1 Gigabit Ethernet LAN port and a CAT6 or better network cable.
!WARNINGNetwork isolation: The StageWave network must be 100% dedicated to monitoring. Do not use this router for internet access or for video streaming software (OBS, vMix, etc.), as this will overload the traffic and cause audio dropouts.
Physical placement (critical for stability):
- On stage: The router must be physically on stage with the musicians.
- Height: Place it at least 1 meter above the floor.
- Distance and line of sight: Phones should be no more than 15 meters from the router with no obstacles (walls, large equipment) between them.
4. Smartphone requirements
Each musician's phone acts as their personal receiver.
iOS devices:
- iOS 12 or later.
- iPhone 6 or newer.
- iPad: Air (1st gen+), Pro (1st gen+), iPad (4th gen+), Mini (2nd gen+).
Android devices:
- Android 8 or later with Quadcore processor and at least 4 GB RAM.
- 5 GHz WiFi (Not to be confused with cellular 5G).
- Adapter note: We recommend Android phones that keep the 3.5mm headphone jack. Generic USB-C to audio jack adapters can add slight latency.
5. Mandatory phone preparation
To avoid dropouts and interference, each musician must set their phone as follows before playing:
- Airplane mode: On.
- WiFi: On and connected to the StageWave 5GHz network.
- Bluetooth and GPS: Fully off in system settings.
- AirDrop (iOS only): Set to "Receiving Off".
- Background apps: Close all other applications.
